General Grant Proposal Information and FAQs
Each year the St. Louis Park Public Schools Foundation (SLPPSF) accepts grant proposals from St. Louis Park Public Schools teachers and staff through a competitive application process. The SLPPSF selects award recipients based on the quality of project proposals and their alignment with the Foundation’s defined objectives and criteria, which are defined below. The Foundation’s Grants Committee recommends a list of proposals that meet grant criteria to the SLPPSF Board for final approval and funding. Applicants are then notified after recommendations are approved by the Board.
Who is eligible to apply for a grant?
All St. Louis Park Public Schools teachers and staff are eligible to apply for a grant.
What is the grant application and decision timeline?
Grant proposals may be submitted starting February 15 of each year.
Submit your grant proposal no later than Monday, June 15.
Grant decisions will be communicated by email to the applicant by Wednesday, July 15.
What are the grant criteria?
The SLPPSF seeks to fund proposals that enhance learning for St. Louis Park Public School students through the following qualities:
The SLPPSF will generally not consider proposals to fund:
What is the review process?
All applications that are received by the deadline are distributed to members of the Foundation Grant Committee. The Committee then meets to discuss the applications and decide which proposals it will recommend for funding. The entire Foundation Board votes on those recommendations.
Can I submit more than one application in a grant cycle?
District staff can submit as many applications as they like, but the Foundation will not award more than one grant to any individual or team within a given grant cycle.
Can I resubmit a previously denied grant proposal?
Yes. The Foundation is unable to fund every worthy project proposal. In some cases, the Committee may direct applicants to other funding sources. In other cases, the Committee can make recommendations about how a proposal can be strengthened so that it is more likely to be funded in the future.
Can I work with another member of the staff, program, or school?
Absolutely! Collaboration within and across the District is encouraged! The Foundation is interested in projects that will have the greatest impact on students. Working with another St. Louis Park public schools staff member or school is one way to increase the impact of your project.
Can I submit a grant to extend a previously funded project?
The Foundation will consider extending a grant for a second year if the project is deemed to be valuable. The second request must include a plan for sustaining the project for the future without grant funds.
What kind of technology projects will the Foundation fund?
The Foundation is eager to fund innovative projects with a technology component. All requests for technology will be reviewed by the District’s Technology Coordinator to be sure they are compatible with District specifications. We ask that you review your project with Tom Marble, the Director of Technology and Information Systems for the District, prior to submitting your application. Tom can be reached at 952-928-6030.

- Project requests should present an idea that addresses a clear need or opportunity.
- Grant proposals should include practical and detailed plans for implementation of your project.

- Projects should describe how the project will become sustainable after grant funds are spent, if applicable.
The SLPPSF will generally not consider proposals to fund:
- Requests for technology that is already or will be provided for by the district technology plan.

- Expenses that are considered excessive relative to need or are not directly related to the project for which funding is sought.
