Hokki Stools |
Hokki stools help active students stay focused in science classrooms
|
About the grant
Grant recipient: Katie Small, Meghan Setten and the middle school science teachers at St. Louis Park Middle School
About the stools: The interactive polypropylene stool with its padded base allows students for whom movement is important to “wobble” safely, releasing tension without distracting them or others from the lesson. Because they are light and portable, they can be moved to the student’s ideal location or even to other science classrooms.
Results: With seating that accommodates their need for movement, students are able to focus better and not distract students around them. Computer lab and special education areas are also experimenting with these stools.
