The Class of 2021 has endured a challenging High School career, having spent much of it at home, with limited time cruising the halls with friends, attending events, performances, and games. Let's give our Seniors a proper celebration! The Park Community and Schools Foundation is partnering with the SLP High Senior Party Committee to launch a community-wide effort to celebrate our seniors. Show your Park Pride for the class of 2021 by buying and planting a lawn sign in your front yard for all to see!
Proceeds from lawn sign sales will help make the 2021 Senior Party free for all students and will help fund future innovative classroom grants for St. Louis Park students for years to come. Details for pick-up of your sign are forthcoming coming. The Saint Louis Park Public Schools & Community Foundation has announced $10,000 in emergency grants. Most of the 41 requests, which maxed out at $250 cover the cost of supplies or equipment to support in-person and distance learning and student social-emotional development during covid. "We were looking for a way to support students and staff with immediate needs. Our teachers have really risen to the challenge, and these small awards help demonstrate that we appreciate what they are doing to adapt" said Ingrid Culp. Examples include books for classrooms, e-books for media centers, subscriptions for online resources and materials to help alleviate anxiety. Students of all grades preK-12th grade will benefit from the grants, as well as students with special learning needs. Show your Park Pride with this custom reusable mask! This full-size mask, with sublimated SLP imaging, includes a nose guard, adjustable ear straps, and chin flap. With every mask sold for $10, one additional mask will be donated to Park Schools for families who need one. The proceeds from the sales of the masks will support the Park Public Schools and Community Foundation to nonprofits supporting youth programs inside and outside of the classroom.
Masks will be mailed to directly to purchasers within about one week from ordering. Park Public Schools & Community Foundation was formed in 2020, out of a merger between the St. Louis Park Public Schools Foundation and the St. Louis Park Community & Youth Fund. Ingrid Culp and Lisa Stein were appointed Co-Chairs of the new board.
"The merger of the two foundations could not have come at a better time. As one Foundation, we will be better positioned to support the needs of children in St. Louis Park, both during and outside of the school day. The merger creates opportunities for increased impact at a time when children, parents, teachers and the community have great needs," said Stein. The new Foundation will fund efforts to enhance student achievement and opportunities in the St. Louis Park public schools and to enrich community programs for youth through grants to local nonprofits.
